Applying Measurement Uncertainty in Labs

Learning how to use MU for improving your laboratory

Participants will evaluate the effects of various sources of measurement uncertainty and use this information to determine the appropriate calibration requirements for equipment used in the laboratory and develop appropriate regimes for evaluating competence of staff. The course also shows you how to use your work in MU to drive continual improvement in your lab to make it a more productive and efficient organisation. We use specific examples relating to methods that use basic laboratory equipment and show you how to present this information as a part of the laboratory accreditation process in order to meet ISO 17025 accreditation requirements for measurement traceability. The principles covered in this course can be extended to cover other sources of uncertainty and different analytical techniques.
